Artist Profile

Rhizomatiks is a creative team that explores new possibilities for technology and artistic expression, focusing on experimental projects with a strong research and development element, and researching the relationship between people and technology while carrying out R&D projects and creating artworks. Made up of artists, designers, and engineers, the team is responsible for all processes involved in a project, from hardware and software development to operations. Through collaborative work with outside artists, researchers, and scientists, they present cutting-edge works of art and research to the world.

Daito Manabe

Artist, programmer, DJ
Founded Rhizomatiks in 2006.
Manabe creates works by reinterpreting and combining familiar phenomena and materials from dif ferent perspectives. Rather than seeking to create rich forms of expression that entail a high degree of resolution or realism, he focuses on the intrinsic interest of phenomena, the body, programming, and computer s themselves, which can be
discovered through careful observation, as well as on the relationships and boundaries between analog and digital, real and virtual, working in a variety of fields.
