About

The 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa has been promoting a three-year art project that seeks to reconsider the Zen philosophy of NISHIDA Kitaro and D.T. SUZUKI, both of whom were born in Ishikawa Prefecture, and to apply it to contemporary life. After the first year of research by OKADA Toshiki of chelfitsch, and the second year of workshops, an “EIZO-Theater” (moving image theater) work will be created together with citizens selected through an audition, using Zen as a motif. The project will explore how Nishida’s text can be revived through the technique of “EIZO-Theater,” a form of theater that consists solely of moving images.
